What is veganism?

Veganism is an ethical position against exploiting animals as far as is practicable. It usually means avoiding animal products in food, clothing, entertainment, and other areas where alternatives are available.

Is veganism just a diet?

No. A plant-based diet can be part of veganism, but veganism is about rejecting the idea that animals exist as resources for humans.

Is veganism expensive?

It can be expensive if it is built around specialty products, but staples like beans, lentils, rice, oats, potatoes, pasta, tofu, and frozen vegetables can be affordable.

Does one person make a difference?

Individual choices are not the whole movement, but movements are made of people changing behavior, building pressure, and shifting what society considers normal.

What about no ethical consumption under capitalism?

Capitalism limits ethical consumption, but limitation is not the same thing as meaninglessness. Harm reduction still matters.
